Grandma Sunhee has engaged in many conversations over the years that inevitably include this sentence: “I have two fathers, not just one!”

She regularly gives things away without mentioning God or the Bible, and her NK neighbors wonder why.

“You don’t seem to be living comfortably, so why are you giving me this?”

“Me? I have a mansion in my hometown,”  Grandma Sunhee answers nonchalantly.

“Huh? Can I go to that mansion?”

People whisper that she is secretly a rich person.

“No, I’m not!”

“Why then?”

“My father is different! I have two fathers, not one.”

She didn’t start out being generous. In fact, she lived in resentment for many years. At a loss, she asked God again and again, “God, why did I have to come here and live like this? Please say something!”

“I sent you to tell these NKs about Me” was the answer she heard after three years of tears.

Most people are speechless or unable to understand her secret language; however, surprisingly, some do get it even though Grandma Sunhee never speaks directly about God while giving things away. But as a result of her loving actions and that provocative sentence, she has been able to evangelize neighbor families and other NK individuals.

  • Pray that the example of Grandma Sun-hee’s life will lead more and more people to see the earnest heart of the Father who loves generously.
  • Pray that loving actions will shed the light of truth and life as God’s people go out to be generous neighbors to NKs.
  • Ask the Lord to bless those He has called to tell about Himself, to melt and prepare their hearts, even when things don’t go well.
  • Even today, pray that acts of generosity will convey God’s love and spread the gospel to NKs, who are highly suspicious of others. May love melt their hearts!
